Agile & Scrum – Building a Strategic Roadmap for Modern Development

Agile & Scrum

Location: MS TEAMS online

Summary
Modern software teams must deliver working products while requirements keep changing. This lecture introduces Agile as a way of thinking, built on the four values of the Agile Manifesto: people over processes, working software over heavy documentation, customer collaboration over contract negotiation, and responding to change over following a fixed plan. It then presents Scrum as Agile in practice. The talk covers:

  • The Scrum lifecycle: Product Backlog, Sprint Planning, the Sprint and the Daily, Sprint Review and Retrospective
  • Iterations and Sprints: short, fixed-length cycles that each end in a working increment
  • The Daily: a 15-minute synchronisation focused on the Sprint Goal and on blockers
  • The Scrum Team: the roles of the Product Owner, the Scrum Master and the Developers
  • Tools for task planning, such as GitHub Projects and Trello, with labels, priorities and a To Do → In Progress → QA/Review → Closed workflow

Real projects illustrate each topic, including the backend for an iOS finance app that shows live gold, currency and market prices.
